GAND UPGRADES ILLINOIS THEATRE WITH NEXO, YAMAHA

Jan 2016 | News | Theatres | GEO S12 | USA

The complete system featured a GEO S12 line array speaker system with RS sub-bass units, powered by NXAMP4x4s; for front-of-house, the theatre chose a Yamaha CL5 Digital Audio Console, equipped with Rio input/output Dante boxes.

Attending a performance at the 1200-seat Hemmens Theatre is a quality theatre-going experience; no seat is further than 87 feet from the stage, and all have clear sightlines.

Gand Sound Installations chose a left and right array of 8x GEO S1210 with 1x GEO S1230 line array and a centre array of 1x GEO S1210 with 3x GEO S1230s. The RS18 subs (install version) are installed high above the acoustic clouds, and RS18 tour subs can be brought in and set on stage when extra low end is required.

“We chose the GEO S12 system for the fidelity, clarity, flexibility, pattern control, ease of installation, and power,” says owner Gary Gand. “The CL5 was chosen because of its user friendliness and the ease of communication with Dante, accessible throughout the system from the Shure ULXD wireless mics and all the way through to the NEXO amplifier outputs.”

“One of the tricky parts was to make the entire rig easy to move so it could be hidden for the Elgin Symphony concert dates when the system is not required,” Gand GSI manager JoJo Clark adds.
