NEXO Systems in Theatres and Halls

Theatres come in all shapes and sizes and can be challenging spaces in which to achieve consistently even sound coverage across the entire audience, without restricting lines of sight from any seats in the house. Thankfully, NEXO systems present installers with the perfect ‘toolkit’ of loudspeakers for main line arrays of appropriate scale, front stage fills and under-balcony fills, and for ‘beaming’ sound into any other tricky corners of the venue. And because NEXO’s combined amplification and control solutions feature phase-aligned presets for every NEXO cabinet, it’s no problem to combine speakers from different NEXO ranges to achieve a perfectly balanced system.

NAHA CULTURAL ARTS THEATRE, OKINAWA, JAPAN

The Naha Cultural Arts Theatre is a new cultural centre in the capital of Okinawa Prefecture, the tropical island group south of mainland Japan. Built to replace the aging Naha Civic Centre, the new venue is located in the heart of the vibrant tourist area and contains both large and small theatres seating around 1600 and 300 people respectively, both of which are equipped with NEXO sound systems.

THÉÂTRE D’AIX, AIX-LES-BAINS, FRANCE

Featuring: ID Series

A grand, Italian-style theatre dating from 1899, the Casino Grand Cercle Theatre in the French resort and spa town of Aix-les-Bains is considered a masterpiece for both its architecture and its decoration.

As part of a sympathetic renovation of this historic and much-loved venue, technical solutions specialists Groupe Elypse designed and installed a NEXO ID Series sound system to equip the 830-seat venue for a varied program of productions ranging from drama and operetta to concerts, without detracting visually from the sumptuous internal decor of a venue with no hanging points for line arrays.

SALZBURG STATE THEATRE, SALZBURG, AUSTRIA

Featuring: NEXO ID Series

The Salzburg State Theatre was completed in 1893 and is today the leading venue for performing arts in the historic Austrian city. This 700-seat theatre stages around 400 productions per season, encompassing drama, opera, ballet and youth theatre.

A recent renovation of the stage facilities specified that no loudspeakers should be visible in the historic hall, so stage technology solutions consultants BWKI replaced the existing line array with a NEXO system based around 4 x ID84/84L cabinets coupled to create a single, 4 metre column just 150mm wide, hidden in the narrow gold portal recesses on either side of the stage.

The P+ Series sets new performance standards for compact, point source loudspeakers, along with new levels of versatility – thanks to an ingenious system for varying HF coverage patterns. An exciting synergy of sleek good looks and stunning performance, P8, P10, P12 and P15 cabinets employ custom HF/LF drivers in a coaxial configuration to deliver perfect phase alignment, exceptional clarity and a smooth response across the full frequency range.
