CAPITAL SOUND CREATES MAGIC AT EDEN SESSIONS

Capital configured the STM system in L/R arrays of 12x M46 Main cabinets and 12x B112 Bass units, with the M46s on the outside of the hangs, and 8x S118 Subs ground stacked per side. The main hang configuration remained the same for the duration of the event. “We thought this was the best option as the coverage area was as wide as it was long,” says Micky Griffiths, system tech for all the concerts. “However, for Jessie J, I divided the subs into two blocks of four under each hang spaced a metre apart, and this gave us more even sub coverage.”

The top rigging was prepped in Capital’s warehouse and fixed to a stack of B112s and M46s before the system was transported to site. “Flying the system itself was easy and quick,” says Griffiths. “It was an outdoor event, so acoustically the venue didn’t pose many problems. STM performed very well for all the acts, which was a very diverse line up. Every mix was consistent in clarity, but the one thing that stood out for me was the clarity of the vocals, which most visiting FOH engineers also remarked upon.”

This was the first time that Capital had worked on the Eden Sessions, and project manager Martin Connolly was delighted to be able to offer STM. “When production manager and event organizer Andy Cotton asked me to tender for the Eden Sessions, it was very clear in my mind that I would specify NEXO STM for all the shows,” he says. “I knew the system was the perfect choice to cover the wide variety of musical styles that would be played across the festival, and there was the added advantage of exposing visiting engineers to our new system.”
