Founded in 1965, Tokyo ONKEN has contributed to the development of sound technology in Japan from the very beginning, leading the industry in all aspects of sound from acoustic operations to design and control of equipment. It has now adopted the STM Series, NEXO’s new flagship array, as its own main speaker system.
The company was particularly impressed by STM’s adaptability, and the way in which the STM system can be rearranged to suit any event. By simply reconfiguring stacks to include as many main, bass and sub-bass speakers as necessary, Tokyo ONKEN can use STM for everything from ground stacks in small theatres to large flown stacks in domes and arenas. For a speech, engineers can just use main modules, or they can combine main and subbass modules for live acoustic concerts.
Tokyo ONKEN uses this modular concept very effectively even for tours by the same artist, playing one show in an arena and another show in a hall that seats 2000. With STM, engineers can freely rearrange the modules so that Tokyo ONKEN can provide uniform service, regardless of location.
