Electronic Studio SA has installed a substantial audio inventory, supplied by ZAP Audio, to meet the client’s brief of a high-quality multi-purpose easy-to-use state-of-the-art system. “The Convention Centre asked us to consider future expansion and interconnection with other rooms, as well as broadcast potential,” explains ZAP’s Flavio Rudy.  “With the digital audio routing, we were able to achieve a high degree of flexibility, and also to tailor the system to different users: there are presets for ‘simple’ usage, as well as ‘full-access’ levels for live sound engineers.”

For the largest auditorium, the 1,130-capacity Hall A, ZAP designed a GEO S12 line array system in a L/C/R configuration, with RS15 subs, and PS8 delays under the balcony.  With a Yamaha console out front, the system runs on a EtherSound network using AuviTran AVM500ES for routing and Yamaha DME for room EQ, dynamics and programming.
Hall B, created by joining three smaller rooms together into one space, now offers a NEXO PS10 system, powered by NXAMP4x1s. For very large events, the EtherSound network allows the two-way transmission of both audio and video signall between Hall A and Hall B.
“This was a relatively straightforward installation,” reports Flavio Rudy, “although Antonio Silvestro and his team from Electronic Studio had very little time to install, program and test because the hall is so heavily used.  The tricky problem was planning the best possible position for the loudspeaker clusters to give optimal audience coverage and still meet visual criteria.”
The new systems are helping the Palazzo to a more diverse programme of users, not just congresses but live jazz and rock events are planned for the future.
