Located some 640km north of the Swedish capital and known as the City of Birches, Umeå in north-eastern Sweden is famous for its museums and cultural institutions, and also as the home of two universities.

The local population swells considerably when more than 36,000 students return after the summer break and this year, new students were welcomed by Sommarfesten, a 2-day festival staged by local promoters Festverket AB.

The line up of popular Scandinavian artists included Swedish band LOV1 and rappers Tjuvjakt, along with Norwegian duo Søte og Rare Gutter and singer Fjellrev performing on a stage rigged with a NEXO GEO M12 sound system by technical services company LLV Nordic who made the trip from the nearby city of Skellefteå.

The system comprised left and right hangs of 6 x NEXO GEO M12 with x 8 x NEXO MSUB18 on the ground in a sub array. NEXO’s industry-standard and ultra-versatile P12 point source speakers performed roles as both front fills and wedge monitors in a system powered entirely by NEXO NXAMPMk2 Powered TD Controllers.

Commenting on the performance of the GEO M12 system with characteristic straightforwardness , LLV Nordic Owner Hence Wikström says “That’s some good stuff!”.

About NEXO GEO M12

The largest of 3 GEO M line array systems sharing the same sonic signature and ‘plug & play’ amplification and processing solution, GEO M12 utilises  a number of advanced technologies including NEXO’s patented Hyperbolic Reflector Waveguide to deliver trademark NEXO power, flexibility, coverage and superb sonic performance, all in a compact and relatively lightweight form factor.

The GEO M12 line array module employs a premium 12″ Neodymium LF driver paired with 1.4″ titanium diaphragm HF driver, and is offered with two vertical dispersions; the 10° GEO M1210 and the 20° GEO M1220. Horizontal directivity can also be changed in seconds from 80° to 120°.

Alongside the proportionately scaled MSUB18 subbass cabinet, integral rigging hardware with no loose parts makes it easy to quickly configure ground stacks and flown arrays of various scales. Amplification is via NEXO’s NXAMP4x4Mk2 TDcontroller, running with up to three M12 cabinets per channel, with systems controllable over a Dante network.

Versatility is further enhanced by a protected switch on the rear of the M12 module allowing the user to change, on the fly, from 2-way passive to 2-way active mode, without having to open the box.
