NEXO’s STM Series line array has made a positive impact at the world’s premier arts center this summer, appearing at two outdoor festivals held at the prestigious Lincoln Center in Manhattan, NYC. New Jersey-based rental provider Audio Incorporated used the modular system for the Lincoln Center’s annual festivals, which are staged in Damrosch Park.
With its distinctive bowl-style stage known as the Guggenheim Band Shell, Damrosch Park has been New York City’s open-air ballroom for nearly 50 years, hosting a great outdoor dance party, Mid Summer Night’s Swing, where salsa, swing, disco, lindy hop music and more is played by dance bands from across the nation and around the world. Later in the summer, the park transforms into a 4000-seat concert venue for the Out of Doors season of concerts by touring and local artists including The Harlem Renaissance Orchestra, The Paul Taylor Dance Company, Nick Lowe, and Bonnie Raitt, to name a few.
Audio Incorporated upgraded its inventory to include NEXO STM modular line arrays in 2014. This year, for the Back-to-Back and Out-of-Doors Outdoor Festivals held at Damrosch Park, they set up a main system of L/R PA arrays, each with 4 sets of STM M46 + STM B112s, with a STM M28 downfill, and below this, a total of 8x STM S118 subs. Two delay towers were needed, each carrying a cluster of 1x STM M46 with 2x STM M28 modules. All amplification was provided by NXAMP4x4s, with a Yamaha CL5 FOH desk delivering audio direct from Yamaha Rio 3224-Ds to the NEXO racks, using Dante.
The sound system was required to have even coverage on both the raised dance floor of Mid Summer Night’s Swing as well as when the dance floor is removed for the seated concert audience of Lincoln Center Out of Doors.
“The NEXO STM Line Array System handled this easily with power and clarity,” said Stephen Tolve, President/Co-Owner of Audio Incorporated. “The response from the touring acts was overwhelmingly positive. STM system has proven to be one of the premier sound systems on the market. I look forward to both festivals next year because Lincoln Center is one of the best places to enjoy summer in the city!”
