This year’s event, held at the Grand Peace Palace at Kyung Hee University, featured a NEXO STM modular line array as the main PA, provided by Way Audio.  In this, the 28th Golden Disk Awards, the hottest K-pop stars are performing live on stage – including PSY, EXO, Girl’s Generation, 2NE1, SHINee, Rain, BEAST and others – so there is a strong requirement for an outstanding front-of-house system at the event.

The system was designed by Yun Cheol Lee, manager of Way Audio, using 9 sets of M46 Main and B112 Bass cabinets in double columns left and right of the stage, providing perfect coverage of the stalls and two balconies in the Grand Peace Palace.  18x S118 subwoofers were groundstacked on the theatre floor in front of the stage, in a side-by-side cardioid mode configuration.  The show, which included interestingly many former students of the Kyung Hee University including Rain, was mixed by Jun Ho Kang, Chief Engineer for Way Audio.

Another critical area of production was stage monitoring, as the show is being broadcast live on Korean TV by JTBC TV Broadcasting.  Way Audio supplied a full monitor rig, comprising NEXO 45°N-12 line monitors and PS15-R2 wedges.
