MATCHING M6 COMPACT LINE ARRAYS FOR AUSTRALIAN CIVIC CENTRE

Two separated directional set-ups for two GEO M6 systems, elegantly liveried in black and white, create a unique dynamic entertainment space in the Broadmeadows Town Hall, a civic centre in Melbourne, Australia.

Light and Sound Solutions, the Melbourne-based AV specialist, has designed the AV solution as part of the $25million refurbishment of the Hall, which includes an update of the internal architecture and striking monochrome finishes.

Mounted perpendicular to one another, the two GEO M6 compact line array systems, both comprised of two hangs each, offer an exceptional amount of flexibility within the space.  The separated directional set-ups allow for accommodation of multiple seating arrangements and varied stage/audience structures in line with the area’s scalable dancefloor and staging options.  Using additional NEXO ID24 compact speakers, the auditorium is now capable of a variety of pro-audio applications, including live music, speech reinforcement, DJ/playback, drama and many more events.

Integrating with the auditorium’s interior design scheme, Light and Sound Solutions chose to match a black system with its black internal dividing wall, and a white system with its white structural wall.  With 4x M620 modules per array, they are identical but for the white system’s additional M6B bass extension in each array.  The visual impact of both systems is subtle, thanks to the compact structure and elegant internal rigging systems of the GEO M6.

“The design and product selection meets the aesthetic requirements set out by the architect,” says Daniel Thomas, Senior Project Manager at Light and Sound Solutions Integration.  “It also maintains the sonic quality that the client expects.  It is always very difficult to manage the requirement of speaker cabinets needing to be installed into a unique architectural space such as this, but we have been able to achieve fantastic results.”
