GEO T FOR SNOWBOARD AND SKI FLYING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Using designs by Oddmund Breen and Janne Bolstad, the Norwegian sound rental specialists Frontlite supplied NEXO PA systems for the different events, choosing GEO T cabinets to satisfy the snowboarding fans’ preference for high-SPL music accompaniment to the competition.

System:
22x GEO T4805

2x GEO T2815

6x CD18

Alpha; 4x M3, 2x B1-15, 2x S2

The largest set-up was at Holmenkollen, the world’s newest championship ski jump, which was used for the halfpipe and quarterpipe events.  Two flown clusters each with 12 cabinets of GEO T were used with NEXO CD18 subs run in omni mode.  For the quarterpipe comp, the system was augmented by additional Alpha cabinets.

Primarily the difference between systems was dictated by the audience areas: for the halfpipe event, for example, the GEO T system was required to cover an area about 50 meters wide and 60 meters deep.  For the slopestyle competition, the GEO T was required to throw some 70 meters.  The Championships took place in average temperatures of -10 degrees Celsius, not cold enough to disturb the GEO T operation.

GEO T and NEXO S12 systems were also used at the FIS Ski Flying World Championships, also staged in Norway.
