Things aren’t always easy for people growing up in the Järva district of northwestern Stockholm, an area characterised by its 1960s architecture and with a young, multicultural population of around 90,000.
In the centre of the area’s Husby Square is a branch of the established Kulturhuset Stadsteatern theatre where music and culture are part of the broader Fokus Järva initiative, a politically anchored strategy for urban development that includes dialogue on city planning, education, work, and meaningful leisure for young people.
The building houses one of the Swedish capital’s largest art galleries, along with a venue for newly written plays, a dance hall and a cinema.
Such a varied repertoire calls for a particularly versatile sound system, in this case a NEXO ePS system recently designed and installed by Swedish distribution partner Intersonic.
“The same space accommodates both live performances and film screenings, and it’s important that the technology follows the content rather than dominating it” reports Intersonic Sales Manager Stefan Ljungkvist.
“The installation is entirely based on the cost-effective NEXO ePS series: ePS10 and eLS600 subs as mains, ePS8 for surrounds and eLS18 as floor sub.
“During theatre use, the system operates as L/C/R with surround, prioritising speech clarity and room dynamics. During film screenings, the hall switches to a Dolby Atmos 7.1 system – same speakers, a new context.
“It’s a solution built for movement between formats, for quick transitions, for demands that change from show to show. The technology exists to carry the content, not to call attention to itself.
“We’re proud to work with Kulturhuset Stadsteatern in close collaboration with AVS and Cinema Design to implement a sound and cinema installation that strengthens culture, education and youth engagement in the Järva area.”
