On June 13th and 14th, the Italian beach resort of Fano became the location for a one-of-a-kind audio-visual extravaganza as the Adriatic Sound Festival brought a pure celebration of techno music and underground spirit to the city’s historic airfield.
Designed by Stufish, the Hangar Stage paid a bold tribute to Fano’s aviation legacy and the power of electronic music, reimagining Fano’s historic airfield as an open-air techno cathedral, framed by three iconic hangars.
Sound for the stage was supplied by local event production and technology specialists Backstage who deployed an all-NEXO system comprising main left and right hangs of 15 x STM M46 Main modules flown alongside the same number of STM B112 Bass Extension modules with another hang of STM M46/B112 providing an out fill.
A total of 60 x STM S118 subs ground stacked across the front of the stage ensured a solid LF response that was felt as much as heard for Hangar Stage performers including Franky Wah, Stephan Bodzin, Sven Väth, Nicole Moudaber, Sama Abdulhadi and Richie Hawtin.
Eight of the sub stacks were topped with a trio of NEXO STM M28 Omni modules for front fills, with stacks of NEXO GEO M12s on M18 subs providing additional coverage.
“This is the first time we’ve used NEXO STM in a setup of this kind” reports Backstage Technical Manager Giacomo Balducci. “We’re accustomed to using STM daily for corporate events so we are aware of the potential that the system can offer, and so we encouraged the client to use it on the techno stage.
“With particular attention to planning initially and tuning later, we managed to achieve an excellent result recognised by both the artists and their technicians. NEXO STM proves once again to be a versatile system capable of meeting all the challenges that the market presents us.”
