NEXO GEO M6 enhances the learning experience at a new high school in Nebraska

One of three high schools operated by Elkhorn Public Schools, Elkhorn North High School is located in Omaha, Nebraska. Completed in 2020, the school serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is committed to creating a culture of learning and achievement, with a curriculum that encourages students to maximise their learning, challenge their thinking, and scrutinise new understandings to develop the skills they need to succeed in life.

At the heart of student life is an impressive auditorium designed for school assemblies, drama and music events, equipped with a NEXO GEO M6 sound system configured and supplied by AV technology specialists and full-service system integrators CCS Presentation Systems / Midwest based in Omaha Nebraska.

“The system at Elkhorn North High School comprises three hangs of 6 x NEXO GEO M6 compact line arrays positioned left, centre and right above the stage, with an LS600 sub flown behind each cluster” reports CCS Programming Manager Tyler Stirtz. “The system is completely hidden from view, and the coverage of the venue is excellent, particularly from a system that’s so compact.”

Amplification and processing come from a rack of just 3 x NEXO NXAMP4X1MK2 Powered Controllers in a Dante-network that includes a Yamaha digital console and stage boxes. “Flexibility is essential in a system that’s required for speech one moment, then a choir or live band the next” adds CCS Director of Integration Dan Ross.

Not only does the NEXO system deliver a world-class sonic experience for students at Elkhorn North High School, it also provides them with a valuable learning opportunity.

“Although the system is relatively small, it encompasses many of the technologies and processes that are relevant to a student considering a career in sound engineering” says CCS Midwest President Ed Pullen.

With system design assistance from NEXO’s US distributor Yamaha and installation by local specialists TFS, the system was tuned and commissioned by the CCS team who also provided on-site training.

“It’s such a pleasure to equip a new school in the heart of our community with technology we know will enhance the students’ learning experience, and their enjoyment of school life” says Ed in conclusion. “Everyone at CCS wishes the students and staff at Elkhorn North High School all the best for the future.”
