The former French colony of Cote d’Ivoire was last year deemed to be the third-largest French-speaking city in the world. With its unpredictable energy earning it the nickname of ‘Manhattan of the Tropics’, and a nightlife considered to be one of the liveliest in the whole of Africa, Abidjan is full of potential for Atelier 333 and NEXO.
Not only is there an abundance of nightclubs, maquis, outdoor venues and bars, but the city has an impressive musical culture, complementing traditional and Congolese music with its own creation, the Coupé Décalé hip-hop phenomenon. Abidjan has become a major producer of musical art; attracting musicians from throughout the Côte d’Ivoire mainly because of its many discothèques where they can perform, as well as the numerous music festivals staged in the city.
