More than 60 industry leaders, rental partners and sound professionals attended the official Malaysian launch of NEXO’s hybrid-source Alpha+ sound reinforcement system on April 3rd at the ODEUM @ JioSpace, a concert and events venue in the city of Petaling Jaya (PJ).
The event was hosted by local distributor Audio Solutions with Director of Audio Solutions Andrew Lee referencing a particularly high level of industry anticipation for the launch of a system that draws on the spirit of a much loved ‘90s classic to create an ultra-powerful, long-throw, ‘three-box’ FOH system that combines the benefits of line source coupling with the easy deployment typical of point source speakers.
“The industry has been hearing about the R&D of NEXO Alpha+ for nearly four years. To finally host this debut and witness the raw power of the system in person is a proud moment for us. The reaction from the crowd during the demo was immediate, the clarity and impact at high SPL levels are exactly what today’s rental market demands.”
The technical segment was initiated by Joe White (NEXO Asia & Australia Business Development Manager), who provided a comprehensive introduction to NEXO’s global company profile. He highlighted the brand’s decades-long commitment to acoustic research and its reputation for engineering excellence before diving into the specific technical innovations of the Alpha+ Series.
The launch also honoured the legacy of the original NEXO Alpha. Encik Siswa Azmi Bin Mohd Mubari, Managing Director of the Mubari Group of Companies, shared a compelling testimonial regarding his 15-plus years of experience with the original system. His insights emphasised the long-term reliability and performance consistency of the Alpha DNA, providing a solid foundation of trust for the newly launched ‘+’ series.
A significant highlight of the evening was the official announcement of the first NEXO Alpha+ owner in Malaysia. Mr. Jack Gill, Managing Director of MD Events Asia Sdn Bhd, was presented with a ceremonial mock key, marking his company’s investment in this next-generation technology. As a leader in the regional event scene, MD Events Asia’s adoption of the Alpha+ underscores the system’s readiness for world-class stages.
The climax of the day was a live demonstration by Julian Noor (Senior Application Engineer), together with the help of Joe Yeung (NEXO Asia & Australia Engineering Support Manager), where the system’s ‘Step-Up’ capabilities were showcased, culminating in a high-energy 148dB experience that left attendees in awe of the system’s headroom and sonic accuracy.
