ALL-NEXO STAGES AT GERMANY’S HURRICANE FESTIVAL

Attracting 70-80,000 people to its countryside location of Scheessel, near Bremen in Lower Saxony, the Hurricane Festival hosts a broad range of international alternative and mainstream rock/pop acts.

This year, Sound Linear’s sound designers Kalle Hogrefe and Guido Sehrbrock made the Blue and Red Stages an all-NEXO affair, with GEO T systems at front-of-house and 45°N-12 packages for monitors.

On the Blue Stage, under the supervision of Jonas Telesch, the PA comprised  left/right hangs of 24x GEO T cabinets, with 22x GEO S12 for out- and nearfill.  36x CD18s provide the necessary subbass.  Over on the Red Stage, Sarah Fuhr supervised a slightly smaller rig;  left/right hangs of 18x GEO T with 16x CD18s and nearfill arrays of 6x GEO S12.

Monitor sound was supervised by Sebastian Röber and Michael ‘Sticken’ Stemmer.  On the Blue Stage, Röber combined 18x 45°N-12 wedge monitors with GEO S12s, Alpha S2s and RS15s for side fill and drum fill.  The smaller Red Stage was served by 14x N-12s, together with Alpha M8s, B1s and S2s, with RS15 subs paired with N-12s for the drumfills.

FOH Support was done with a Digico SD5 by Holger Schröder on the Blue Stage, on the Red Stage with a Digico SD10 by Martin Weicht.

Reinhard Steger from audiovation, NEXO’s Germany distributor, was on hand to provide general support for all the NEXO systems, which were set up on EtherSound networks.

“The decision to add the 45°N-12s to our comprehensive NEXO inventory was made during the first demo we had from Reinhard Steger at a NEXO seminar last year. I think I can say we were one of the first to make up our mind,” says Kalle Hogrefe, director of Sound Linear.  Guido Sehrbrock, the monitor specialist in the company, agrees. “Having listened to the wedges perform well in many different applications, we have enjoyed watching their reputation grow.”
