Founded in 1945 and until recently the oldest operating cinema in the country, Bæjarbíó in the Icelandic port town of Hafnarfjörður is today a thriving concert and event venue hosting singer/songwriters through to rock bands.
Such a varied program requires an installed sound system that can shift through the gears to handle any scale of show that comes to town, so venue operators contacted local AV technology and production services specialists Exton to propose a new sound system that would ensure fans of all musical genres enjoy top quality sound at every Bæjarbíó event.
“The venue had received a proposal for a system from another manufacturer but, after visiting and taking measurements, we were able to propose a NEXO system that would meet the performance criteria at a significantly lower cost” reports Exton Sound Consultant/Technician Asaf Tzur.
Left and right hangs of 3 x NEXO GEO M1210s plus a more steeply angled GEO M1220 are supplemented by super-compact NEXO ID24s as front fills in a system that originally featured a pair of NEXO RS18 subs.
“Listening to the system we felt that the LF angle dispersion could be improved” continues Asaf. “We contacted NEXO Engineering Support who were quickly on site and ultimately the RS18s were replaced with 4 x NEXO L18s in sub array configuration to achieve more consistent coverage of the venue.”
Although not part of the original brief, the cost-efficiency of the NEXO solution delivered an additional benefit at Bæjarbíó.
“We were able to supply 8 x NEXO P12s for stage monitoring within the budget, along with the corresponding NXAMP4X4Mk2 amplifiers” says Asaf in conclusion.
“So now audiences and performers alike experience world-class NEXO sound at Bæjarbíó.”
