No expense has been spared on expert advice and the best technical solutions in the refurbishment of this prestigious cultural venue in Peru’s capital. One of the city’s most important theaters, it was home to the metropolitan opera, ballet and drama companies before the fire in ’98.

Art and architecture experts, as well as the best Peruvian artisans, have lovingly executed the restoration, using pictures and design drawings from the original 1920 house, even decorating 350 ornaments in gold leaf. Now equipped with state-of-the-art acoustics, visual and safety technology, the theater is poised to become one of the most important stages in Latin America.

The house’s owners, the municipal authority of Lima, asked for a complete sound system, able to offer the highest quality for the variety of productions in the venue, from ballet to folk music.  After long sessions with the software programmes, the selected system was a 9-cabinet per side GEO D, design with flown GEO SUBS, from NEXO.

The GEO D10 modules, chosen because of their cardioid advantages, were hidden into an upper balcony sector, using a specially designed device from TELETEC de Mexico, the installation company commissioned to rig and connect the system.  TELETEC worked with local sound designer Ricardo Mondejar on the Official Opening ceremony, taking advantage of his expertise with NEXO systems, and with Jesus Aguilar from Sonotec Peru, distributors of NEXO products.

With a number of NEXO PS8 speakers providing fills for some of the numerous balconies in the auditorium, the system is all-NEXO.  Controlled by EtherSound via optical fibre connections from front-of-house, the system is powered by NXAMP 4×4 and 4×1 amplifier-processors.
