A fantastic presentation of NEXO’s STM Series modular line array, featuring the compact M28 as the main cabinet in the design, has taken place in Greece, organised by Michalis Asitzoglou of IMA Audio Lighting.

Thirty of the most prominent rental companies came from all over Greece to take advantage of this unique opportunity – advance reviewing of a concert system set up for one of the most celebrated Greek singers Eleonora Zouganeli.

Rental company owners and their engineers first received a detailed presentation of STM technology, and a briefing on how different systems can be set up. Then they had a few hours to listen to the system in different configurations, assessing fidelity of reproduction across the full extent of the audience area.

For Zouganeli, the main PA was set up with 9x M28 main modules plus 6x B112 bass cabinets per side. 6x S118 subs per side were set up in B2B mode.

“This was a very interesting exercise,” commented Denis Baudier, NEXO Sales Director. “In the listening test, we found that the particular characteristics of Greek music were better served by a slightly different tonal balance, so we took out 3x B112 bass cabinets on each side. Everyone welcomed the changes, calling it the ideal system for Eleonora’s music, and it was the perfect demonstration of the flexibility of STM’s modular design.”

6000 people attended the concert, in the magical location of the Theatre Vraxon (Theatre of the Rocks) in Vyronas, near Athens. Joining Zouganeli on stage were a 6-piece band, featuring classic Greek instruments such as duddouk and zournas, bouzouki and lute.

At front-of-house was the highly respected Brian Coon, president of the Association of Greek Sound Engineers. “Although he hadn’t used STM before, the performance of the M28 was applauded by Brian,” according to Denis Baudier. “He found it to have very good reserve in the low end, excellent range, and perfect consistency throughout the audience area. He didn’t even want to equalise the system. We were very pleased to have such an assessment from one of Greece’s most influential live sound engineers.”
