The 400-capacity club is based around an open-air pool complete with swim-up bar, sun loungers and seating areas. Operating as a restaurant during the day, by nightfall the volume and pace are turned up as Hot Mess moves into club mode, with poolside dancing and drinking providing entertainment into the small hours.
The NEXO system was provided by local distributor Light and Sound Design, who designed and installed a system of 6x PS10-R2 high power cabinets and 4x LS600 sub bass units driven by NXAMP 4×4 amplifiers, plus two Yamaha MSR400 active monitors. The PS10-R2s have been positioned around the outer perimeter of the swimming pool area, with two subs each located beneath the deck at either side of the DJ zone behind the pool bar.
“The management of the club was looking for a sound system that was rider friendly and powerful enough for a club scene featuring international acts,” says Milan Scepanovic, general manager of Light and Sound Design. “They were impressed with a demonstration we gave them of a PS10-R2/LS600 system, and also liked its aesthetics. It goes without saying that the system not only had to sound good, but also needed to look good too. As the venue is a restaurant during the day, turning into a club when night falls, the complete audio system had to be unobtrusive in daylight while powerful enough for the club scene during the night. A further request was that the subs had to fit below the deck, because of the limited space.”
An added consideration was the limited AC power available, and again NEXO rose to the challenge. “The whole audio system managed to squeeze into one 16A outlet, which was a very big bonus,” continues Scepanovic. “The lineup of international DJs and artists keeping the party going all summer includes Copyright, Freemasons and Niki Belucci. The decision of the DJs and patrons is unanimous: this is one of the best-sounding clubs in Serbia!”
