The 33rd edition of the CEV EuroBeachVolley Championships came to an end on Sunday August 3rd, capping off a week of elite beach volleyball played at the Rochusclub Düsseldorfer Tennisclub in the German city of Düsseldorf.

On the men’s side, winners Anders Mol and Christian Sørum are already the most successful team in European beach volleyball history, consolidating Norway as the country with the most EuroBeachVolley gold medals. For the women, Maryna Hladun and Tetiana Lazarenko’s victory came as somewhat of a surprise but reflects Ukraine’s incredible rise in the sport over the last few years.

As usual, an exciting atmosphere surrounded the games and supplementary events, with a NEXO sound system deployed by Paderborn-based event production specialists Sound Linear playing an important role in creating a festival vibe.

“We used 12 of our NEXO P12 point source and 8 x STM S118 subwoofers for the beach volleyball championships, supplemented by 8 x NEXO ID24 loudspeakers” reports Sound Linear Project Manager Olly Thiele who was the System Tech for the event.

In order to achieve almost uniform coverage, we used different horn configurations and adjusted the HF dispersion angle accordingly.

The system was designed by NEXO Engineering Support team member Magali Deschamps and its performance predicated using NEXO NS-1 system configuration software. Power and processing came from NEXO’s NUAR Universal Amp Racks, with remote control and monitoring from NEXO’s NeMo app.

The centre court at Rochusclub Düsseldorf offers space for around 3800 seats and additional standing room above the stands” continues Olly. “A particular feature of beach volleyball is that there are tiers on all sides of the court, but this also poses the difficulty of setting up a sound system that obstructs the view as little as possible.

Thanks to the compact dimensions of the NEXO P12, we were able to guarantee an almost completely unobstructed view of the court despite the truss tower, and had sufficient headroom available. Furthermore, the stadium is located in the middle of a residential area, which is why the sound system had to remain within the grounds as far as possible.

“We would like to congratulate the winners and thank everyone involved for their excellent cooperation.”
