Located in the heart of the capital, the Deus É Amor Church in Montevideo, Uruguay occupies a former cinema in an iconic modernist building completed in 1953.
Purchased by the church in 2018, the interior has been modified for worship services, with much of the original structure along with the ‘Cine Plaza’ sign on the facade retained.
The long, narrow building with a high, curved ceiling and two balcony levels provided an interesting challenge for local NEXO Engineering Support team member Roberto Tschopp, charged with designing a new sound system focused on providing a high level of speech intelligibility with consistent coverage throughout, along with the power and performance necessary to deliver the musical elements of services with maximum impact.
“Left and right hangs of 12 x NEXO GEO M12 achieve a long throw right to the back of the top balcony and consistent coverage across congregation on the ground floor level” reports Roberto. “Four MSUB18s per side on the ground provide LF extension and we used NEXO ePS12s to fill in under balconies and on the second level.
“Compact NEXO ID24s are perfect for front fills as they have a very low profile along the front of the stage and a total of 12 x NEXO P12s ensure a highly versatile stage monitoring solution.”
Amplification and processing for the system come from NEXO’s NXAMPMk2 Powered TD Controllers with equipment supplied by NEXO distribution partner ONLOP S.A. and the installation completed by local system integrator and NEXO rental house La Tuba.
“Our friends Roberto Peña and Juan Silvera at La Tuba did a great job with the installation” continues Roberto. “When we arrived for fine tuning and system training, we just made some small adjustments to the main cluster angles for optimal top floor coverage and to the delay alignment of the fill in speakers.”
With a rental inventory of more than 100 NEXO speakers, La Tuba has considerable experience working with the French loudspeaker brand. “We value the support we get from Roberto and (LatAm Sales Manager) Hely Chirinos, and also from the local distributor” says Roberto Peña.
