In its 20th year, the Théâtre des Bergeries has transformed its main auditorium with a new front-of-house audio system from NEXO, installed by the Paris-based AV integration company Videlio.

The Théâtre des Bergeries in the east of Paris has 472 seats in its large hall, which features a proscenium arch stage.  Hosting mainly dance and theatre companies, and various French music concerts, the venue benefits from high-quality acoustic treatment.  After 20 years of service, it was time to retire the original sound system, and, after a visit to NEXO’s HQ in the north of Paris, the theatre’s Head of Sound Pascal Flamme decided to specify the brand.

Christophe Girres from NEXO Engineering Support began his system design with the theatre’s physical constraints on the cabinet placement, coupled with the client’s requirement for efficient low-mid performance, and a very low visual profile for the system elements.  Pascal Flamme’s system of choice was the mid-size GEO M10 line array, which provided high SPL levels from compact boxes, delivering full-range bandwidth from a single 10” driver.

The L/R system was set up with two flown clusters, each using 6x GEO M10 cabinets.  The low extension is provided by 2x MSUB18 per side, stacked on existing platforms above the clusters.

Delivering coverage to the front rows, a single P12 has been installed in the top centre of the stage frame, and this is complemented by four ID24 cabinets (120°x60° dispersion) to be used as front fills when necessary.  Two P8 units have been added as infills.  P12s comprise the stage monitoring system.

The whole system is amplified by NXAMP4x2Mk2 and NXAMP4x1Mk2, equipped with Dante cards.  The front of house desk is a Yamaha CL5 digital console, and Pascal Flamme is easily able to remote-control all the NXAMPs from his mix position.  “The sound quality is completely satisfactory,” says Flamme, “it gives me great clarity and precision on the vocals, the coverage is complete and the low-mids are superb in a music concert.”
