Located in a Hispanic community in Kansas City, KS, the church wanted a state-of-the-art system that would accommodate every style of music, including the diverse array of Hispanic Christian bands that come to Kansas City. Aguilar praised NEXO's GEO S8 series line array speakers as “crystal clear.”
"The GEO S8 line array is a great sounding system, and having designed many systems around NEXO products, we know how to get the most out of the loudspeakers," Clasen explained. "Precise adjustments in splay angles make a great deal of difference in these arrays. It is a very accurate system and we utilize software from EASE and GeoSoft 2, as well as onsite measurements with Smaart and listening to obtain the best performance."
The church acquired a new building to replace its existing two buildings. MSM Systems had only one month from the time the contract was received until the first service. This included adding two steel I Beams to suspend the left/right arrays. This is an older building, and there was no support for the speakers. "We worked with a structural engineer and installed two 16' I beams that span the ceiling columns. The light weight of the GEO S8 was a big benefit," Clasen said.
The installed NEXO S2 subwoofers were literally shaking the building during the opening worship service. The S2s are powered by the new Yamaha Tour series TX amplifier. The GEO S8 system used the Yamaha PC9501N amplifiers with the NEXO NX242 TDcontroller.
The recently released Yamaha LS9/32 digital mixing console controls inputs for the front of house sound system and musicians. Most of the musicians are using in-ear monitors, so having the presets to recall their settings is a great feature. This is also helpful to keep stage volume low. The LS9/32's small footprint and added features cut down on the amount of extra rack equipment.
The high-energy congregation and their incorporation of music, made a quality sound system a very high priority. Compliments abounded by their opening weekend which drew over 1500 people.
Aguilar said the church’s main objective was to have very high quality sound. This required a good sound contractor to install high quality equipment. “Yamaha, NEXO and MSM Systems Inc. are three companies that La Fe en Jesucristo will continue to highly recommend to anyone serious about professional audio/video designs.”
