RAY SUB Series

TECHNOLOGICAL AND APPLICATIVE BREAKTHROUGH
The success of NEXO’s gradient CD and GEO subs is derived from a distinctive cabinet design and optimized definition of phase relations through sophisticated algorithms that permit high directional control and SPL output.
With NEXO’s gradient subs having been implemented for all types of applications and gaining thorough knowledge in subwoofer design, NEXO, has been developing a new subwoofer technology that further raises the standards and the application capabilities of subwoofers.
Over the course of the past year, NEXO has created its patent pending RAY SUB Technology. The RAY SUB Technology is based on optimizing positioning and phase relationships of radiating surfaces in vented enclosures, permitting acoustic distance from rear to front sections to always increase as frequency decreases; consequently rear and front sections sum up efficiently over the entire subwoofer bandwidth, allowing for an average of 5 db gain from the rear section in the forward direction and cancelling in the rear direction.
Utilized in a stand alone format, RAY SUB Technology, allows the same cabinet to be configured for any polar pattern, omni-directional as a standard direct radiating subwoofer when speakers are facing the audience, or highly directional when a speaker cabinet is rotated sideways or upwards.
Used in arrays, RAY SUB subwoofers can be set back to back, front to front, in vertical columns, and when column length is sufficient be beam-steered upwards or downwards.
With this technology NEXO provides an unprecedented control in low frequency directivity to the sound reinforcement industry and further raises its globally acclaimed standard of excellence.
To provide the highest level of security to Ray Sub technology users, the RS 15 rigging hardware has a pending certification by TUV NORD
The RS15 is the first product to feature NEXO’s patent-pending RAY SUB Technology. Comprised of a 15 inch transducer with a frequency response of 35Hz – 200Hz in omni or 35Hz- 150Hz in directional mode and a sensitivity of 105db SPL, the RS 15 presents an unchallenged versatility for installation and touring requirements.
The RS15 sub does not face the same direction while in omni and cardioid mode. In cardioid mode, the RS15 sidewalls (where the rigging system is attached) behave as the cabinet's front and rear face
As such, RS15's cardioid LF and VLF energy propagates from only one end of the enclosure, rather than from the front face. This behavior is maintained regardless of whether speaker cones are positioned on the side or top.
Extending NEXO’s offering of the patent pending RAY SUB design, the RS18 is the second product to feature this technology. The RS18 sets a new standard for performance and versatility capabilities that 2x18" sub bass cabinets can provide.
